Can I move Stephanie??

Just today, one of my hens, Stephanie, decided it was time to go broody! Problem is she’s not in the coop where she’ll be safe. She’s under a tarp in my carport that I have to protect my cats from the wind and rain. Can I pick her up and move her? Put her in a box? Bring the egg?im panicking right now because the sun is setting and its possum time!! Help!!!

Depends on the bird. Moving her might break her brood. But that's better than her being eaten.

Yes you can move her!
If she stops sitting it would be for the best anyways as it’s too cold at this time of the year.
I wouldn’t risk her getting killed by an Opossum for a single egg that she may have only been sitting on for a few hours.

I’d put her on the roost, you say she’s only sitting on one egg and it’s the middle of winter. Best let her sit and hatch eggs in spring/summer if you want.

When mine go broody I take them out of the coop every day. It is better to break them of it if you're not having them hatch eggs.

No. She lays in the huge box where my cats sleep. It’s too big for me to move.

Of corse! I have no desire to hatch anything anytime soon! I’m not worried about the egg...guess, I don’t want to upset her. But, I know her life is #1! I’d die if anything happened to any one of my babies!!!
