Can I put Ice cubes in the chicken’s waterers?

It’s very hot and the chicken’s waterers keep getting warm and even hot. If I put them in the shade they stay cool but the shade keeps moving. Is it ok to put ice cubes in the chicken’s waterer or will it make the water too cold? Thanks in advance!

A lot of people do that. Or, what I’m about to do is freeze a big water jug and put that in the water.

What I do is freeze some disposable water bottles with the label removed. I have a 10 or so gallon waterer so freeze 6, 3 for the morning and switch those out for 3 more later in the day.

I do the same! I use Gatorade bottles because they're thicker and less likely to crack or burst when frozen. Just trade one out for the other later in the day.

I use ice packs and put one in my acorn shape water drinker too.
