I have some of the spreading type of Liriope (spicata) that I need to dig up before it takes over a bed. I was wondering if it would be safe to throw what I dig up in the run to let the chickens scratch around in it?

Also, I have some house plants that I am tossing (this happens a lot - brown thumb) and I was wondering, if I cut off the foliage would the root balls be safe for the chickens? They are so bored right now!

Thanks!

What kind of house plants?
With the brown thumb... you may want to grow some herbs that the chickens love. This way when the herbs get a good size you can just put the plant in the run before the plants normally turn brown.

I can’t seem to find any toxic plant list that lists the Liriope (spicata) as toxic. But some chickens are just picky, so there is a chance they may not eat it.

I have liriope in my yard that the chickens don’t seem to be interested in when I let them out to free range. I was wondering if I transplanted some in their run to get some greenery and something soft for them to lay on.
1 Is it safe?
2 Would it survive?

I just planted lirope. The chickens didn’t even let me get it I. The ground before they attacked it. Laying on it. Like catnip. Just for anyone reading. If you want a treat for a day, give them this.
