Can I put old chicken eggs in compost

I have some chicken eggs that have been on the nest for a week and I don't wanna eat therm. Can I just put them straight into the compost?

I'd crack them open first so they don't rot and explode. Eggs can attract unwanted visitors like opossum, and raccoons. So bury them deep.

You might attract raccoons and opossums, but it's good for plants. It's your decision
