Can I raise chickens in Bedford, MA?

I am looking at moving to different communities in the Boston area. Many towns have information saying if raising chickens is allowed or not. However, I have had a hard time determining if it is OK in Bedford, MA. The zoning department told me to call the health department, who didn't have any information either. Any info out there?

I have 9 chickens in Bedford right now. I think I am suppose to have a permit for having over 4 but no one has complained and the town hasn't knocked on my door so its ok. I know other people in town have chickens to. Sorry this is a few years after you posted
