Metal is a good precaution against rodents but I have used plastic for many years and never had a rodent problem.
The problem with metal in warm climates is that it will sweat which can cause the feed to mold.

I can see where that would happen in places that have high humidity, usually at location's that are close to bodies of water.

Yeah, you may live in an arid climate. Humidity is usually high here year round.

Pay close attention to the mill date on your feed.
