Hi,
I don't want to seem totally crazy, but can I travel with incubating eggs? I have the equipment to plug the incubator into my SUV. I will only be gone for the weekend and I do not have an egg turner, so I thought maybe I can just bring them with me. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Jessi

Wel-l-l-l I did it [kinda] My new years hatch wasn't finished when I had to return from MD to TN, so I plugged that baby in and came home. One hatched on the way, 2 more pipped, carried the bator in when we got here at midnight and woke to 2 more chicks and 3 more pips. O'course, the van WAS kinda crowded w/2 humans, 3 dogs [2 Paps and a Weimer], a cat, the bator and a brooder [dog crate] w/2 4 week old RIRs and 7 newly hatched chicks

Think about an egg in its natural environment: Sitting under an nice quiet hen, in a nice quiet nest, in a nice quiet coop...no jostling, no bumping about, no sudden stops, no road noise....and then ask yourself that question again.

I'm having to do the same thing but I have a 42' 5th wheel running the generator for power. there shouldn't be 2 much jostling going on that way. I only have to go 200 miles on pretty smooth roads.

They would certainly be better off at home in a turner. What day are you? What kind of bator are you using [is there room for an auto turner]? Has temp and humidity been steady or do you have to tweak it daily? Is there anyone who could 'egg-sit'?

Boy, being a grown-up using "the voice of reason" sure is boring.

Thank you, now I don't feel so bad! I have 400 miles one way on pretty smooth roads and the SUV is very smooth. I thought that taking them with me would be better than the alternative.
