Can I treat my duckling's eye with antibiotic drops/ointment?

I have a 2 week old runner duckling who has been struggling to make it since hatching. She was smaller and weaker when she arrived from the hatchery and it seemed like her one eye was going to stay fused shut. At the recommendation of others here, I started all of them on brewer's yeast added to their food and dropped sterile eye drops on her fused eye for a few days. But it didn't seem like it was going to work and it really freaked her out so I stopped. But now, at almost 2 weeks, it looks like a tiny opening has finally occured in the eyelids. I am not sure, but maybe it is a little weepy but not overtly pussy. So I was wondering if it would be alright now to drop a little bit of veteranarian grade opthalmic antibiotics drops in it? For the most part, she is starting to thrive, although she is still much smaller than the others. But she is spunky and eats/drinks well. I sure wouldn't want her to get this far and then have an infection take her from me. I have gotten quite attached to little Buttercup at this point. I know you can use the opthalmic drops on cats/dogs/horses/ect so I am somewhat sure you could for ducks too. But I thought I would seek a more expert opinion on the matter

You can use that product on ducks. It is hard to say if she has an infection or not, but even flushing the eye with the sterile eye drops despite her protests might be a good idea. I'm glad she is spunky even though she is smaller.

wrap her gently in a towel so she can't protest so much then treat and give a treat for her good behavior, glad to hear she is doing good and hopefully catching up.
