Can I turn off the light?

I worry about the lights (fire hazard) when no one is home. Can I turn off the lights for 1 hour or less? Inside the house is 65-68 degrees. The chicks' wings are feathered, the ducks have no feathers yet.

how old are they? and what kind of light/bulb do you have on them?

At two weeks old, they still need a warm spot of 80-85 to warm themselves. At 3 weeks, an 75-80 degree warm spot is fine. The entire brooder should not be this warm, just the warming area.

If it is only for an hour, I say try it while youare home, and see if they act too cold. ?The ducks should be fine as they can tolerate cooler temps than chicks. So, after you try it, yo will know if it is possible for if you really have to leave.
