My sawmill next door is cutting only walnut trees right now. They said not to use it around flowers but he didn't know about chickens. Anyone with experience or ideas?

Are you referring to Black Walnut? I have heard this is toxic and can be poisonous? Maybe someone else knows more about this. I know the green hull of rhe Black Walnut made into a tixture can eliminate parasites and worms from humans.

I don't know about chickens but all parts of the walnut tree are toxic to horses, even if they don't eat it. It can cause hoof problems among other issues.
