I just started a small backyard flock and make my own food, but have run out of molasses. I have been wondering if I can use ground milk chocolate as a temporary substitute for molasses. Also, does anybody here no if chickens like rice?

Cooked rice is fine, but I would not feed a chicken chocolate. It is toxic to birds and can even be fatal.

Molasses isn't necessary for chicken feed...it is a laxative here:

I have fed COB with molasses before, just one bag. No ill effects. But it isn't necessary in chicken feed.

Raw or cooked rice is OK. White rice is just a treat. Brown rice is nutritious. They love cooked rice...dunno about raw.

I wouldn't ever feed chocolate to chickens.
