I have read about Emus and people say when they get their half an hour of free ranging and so on. My Question is, do the Emus stay in the coop or can they free range the whole day? (Obviously put them in the coop at night time though :D

I have no experience with raising Emus.... If they are anything like chickens, they will get "attached" to their coop/shelter.

They may choose the coop at night -- or may not -- but they are not a domesticated species, and in the wild here they spend their lives gleefully roaming all over the place. They never need to be in a coop, and it's imperative that for the healthy growth of chicks they have absolutely as much exercise as possible, which should include the 'stretch and snatch' of gathering food. You can hang bunches of spinach.

Here are Alpha and Omega, whom we observed for some months here: tame-wild, Eric's chicks:

I keep all my little guys out all day and then they go into the coop at night or follow me in(they are in an enclosed fence though). So yes they can stay outside all day in fact they should be outside as much as possible.
