can new world quail be mixed together?

With enough visual barriers and other hiding spots, it might work. Just research the hell out of their habits such as preferred roosting height (bobwhites for instance roost sometimes), etc..

It will also depend on number of birds. A pair of each? Probably fine. 10 of each? Who knows?

You would need huge spaces to mix different species, aviary sized space for this to slightly work. New World members need at LEAST 4 square feet per bird. As for mixing different species, you might be able to mix hens only together, with no males around, still they will need big spaces. The New World birds are large, can stress easier and are more cannibalistic than say Coturnix. Different species don't easily tolerate each other.

thanks. I just have bobwhites at the moment, and I'm thinking about getting some. So its probably better to put kind by kind

They will be very happy with their kind!

Keep Bobs in pairs only during breeding season, spring thru fall, you can mix them back together for the winter convey. They love to snuggle close during the winter however during breeding season they do not tolerate any other birds in their territory. They can and do kill lone females, so pairs only or keep hens in one area, roos in another. :)

Don't worry, I have three pairs of bobs and they all have 8'x20' pens for themselves. I made it really natural. long grass, corn, tunnels, pile of rock to climb on and whistle, and last year one pair even hatched and raised 12 chicks. unfortunately, something got in their pen so only 5 made it into adult hood. They make their own nests, but the pairs I have now don't sit on them. Only for short periods of time. got 40 bobs in the bator, and they'll be hatching on monday:celebrate:thumbsup:wee
