Can peafowl be kept with chickens?

I've never understood all this preventative stuff, is it only for certain regions?
We moved to a property with chickens and peafowl around 6 years ago and have never gave them anything.
Lots of people will do fine for many years, then all of a sudden they get blackhead and die.

We tend to be lucky until we are not. One reason I have found is that pens that are used for a few years tend to lose the vegetation and the birds have closer contact with the dirt. Keeping a nice lush carpet of grass will help keep the parasites down but is still not going to keep all parasites from the birds.
