I have 5 RP poults born aug.4,can I put them outside in a pen off the ground now,it only gets down in the low 60's so far at night.
Think I should put a heatlight in or not.
Thanks

yes they will need a heatlamp at night time for sure. They also will need some sorta wind block so they don't get chilled and make sure to keep them dry and you should be good. I would also keep the heatlamp on 24/7 for the first few days so they don't get too chilled and stressed out early on.

Agree with Harp but I am going to take it a step further. From experience I have learned young poults chill very easily and usually don't make it. You will need to cover the cage floor with newspapers then put shavings or straw on it or the cage will not hold enough heat at night and when the wind blows. As Harp said cover the sides and the top and keep the heat lamp on 24/7. When brooding young poults this way I will partially uncover the cage front when it gets warmer during the day. If it stays cool keep the cage covered.

You have to make sure they can't get wet or be exposed to cool breezes.

Chill kills !!!
