be to fat to lay? 2 of my girls got out of the fence today while I was at work. I found them out didging in the horse poo, I picked up the GSL and she felt normal, could kind of feel her breast bone and not super heavy. The Blk Aust. was heavy and fat, not even a hint of breast bone, like a nice fat roasting hen. Both girls are about the same age, they will be a year old in May. Most days I'm getting 11/12 eggs out of the 15 girls. Would this fat one be one of my slackers?

Aloha,

Yes they can be over weight. But that depends on what they are eating. It is like a over fed pet they get lazy but some breeds are just made that way. So the exercise is good for them so they can have a workout and work off the "phat". It makes for a happy healthy bird.
