Can quail breeds mix?

I have a pair of calfornia quail and a single coturnix hen I was wondering could the 3 be kept together to keep each other company

Everybody I know who has quail keeps the breeds seperated but I don't see why you couldn't keep the three together.

I would be concerned the pair of quail would feel territorial about the lone hen - can you have them in cages side by side and see how they react? Or maybe that would be enough to keep the hen company?
