Can Quails eat scallop shells

We are very new to raising female japanese quail. They are 8 weeks but not yet laying and we and are wanting to know if they can have scallop shell instead of oyster shell as a calcium supplement? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a means of crushing them to the point that the pulverized pieces can be swallowed by a bird that small?
Scallop shells, like oyster shell, are mostly calcium carbonate.
