HELLO ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY ARE ABLE TO SEX MY MILLE FLEUR D UCCLE. DON'T KNOW IF IT IS TO SOON OR NOT. HE OR SHE IS 3 WEEKS OLD.THANKS!

I've never seen a crest like that, as far as I can recall... Some normal tines/spikes up front and then a coral crest at back. :/ lol, will be interesting to see how that turns out!

What's that long cut in its upper beak? Looks like it removed a strip, or had one removed, somehow.

I think it may be a somewhat underdeveloped male. Since there are no clutch-mate pics to compare it with, making a better guess is impossible. At least it is for me, being no expert on breeds.

Development is affected by diet and environment as well as genetics and other things so being able to compare it to others raised the same way and from the same parents and breed, or at least age group, helps a lot. However, those are rather large spikes for a female, though they're pale enough for a female, so I think you've got a male. But time will tell.

Best wishes.

Did you order a Mille Fleur or did you get this chick from a bantam bin and you think it's a Mille Fleur? The comb looks like it had a pea combed parent.

Thanks for the responses! This is my first time raising chicks. I got this one from Tractor Supply Store. He or she was mixed in with other Bantams. It has big feathers on its feet. I have been feeding my chicks Purina starter medicated feed and I used the vitamins mixed in water. And I put Baby Cake in there. I thought it was a pure Mille Fleur D Uccle. I don't know anything about the beak. His feet look like one. lol. IDK. My other chicks I got from Meyers Hatchery. Does the one I have look like a mix of something?

Its still young to tell (I'd post some new photos in a few weeks), but I don't see any obvious cockerel characteristics. If you got them from Tractor Supply, it is probably pure-bred, just hatchery-quality.

The beak strip is probably just due to pecking through the mesh.

If you look at the first profile pic, meaning the second image, that's a heck of a large spike on the crest for a female, in fact I've never seen such large spikes on a female so young, no matter the breed.

Because it is a mixed-crest-type, I would think it's not purebred, and there is more margin for error in sexing by crest development, but I'd bet male at this point.

Best wishes. You'll know soon enough I'd bet.
