I found out that one of my birds hid 7 eggs. I thought that she hadn't laid any eggs for the past 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. It's been around 95 degrees many days in NY. Are the eggs safe to eat?

Toss em in garbage. Not worth risking health of my family or myself if I dont know how long its been sitting there. If you had roos, some might be developing. Breaking one open with a chick in it is rather unsettling in the morning LOL.

No roos but I tossed all of them anyway. I wonder if any would have been okay if I tried the water test.

I found 7 eggs today, and it has been hot here too.

I did the water test.....

meaning the egg should float if the egg is rotten because the gases in the shell will cause the egg to rise above the water.

All of mine sank to the bottom, so i kept them and ate a couple. They were fine.

I'm a newbie. These are my first eggs ever, and she was hiding them in the bushes, so that's why i found 7 at a time.

We're not sick from the eggs, so i think we're o.k.

But i'm a newbie. Someone else may have bigger wisdom.
