Hello Everyone!

I recently bought a batch of quails from a farm a very unique one stood out to me, so I requested it from the farmer as well. The informed me it was a quail that started with a T (sounded like Taulker). Despite this I have had my fair share of different type of quails on my childhood and this one looks nothing like a quail to me. It looks more like a pheasant but I'm unsure. If shes not a quail what would she be. (Excuse my bedroom, I brought her inside for better lighting as it was nighttime.

Ir is not a pheasant! That is a Coturnix quail.

The beak and orbital crest (eye ridge) is all wrong for a coturnix (and color). Could you get a picture in good day light without a cluttered background? Also a picture of the feet? How do you get him to sit so nice in your hand (also another clue it probably isn’t coturnix! Even our thoroughly over peopled birds won’t do that). I did the google app picture thing on your picture and it is coming back as a dove(?!) and we all know the internet is never wrong!

It looks a little like a Juvenile Chukar, mainly due to the thick bill with a reddish tint and the hints of an eye stripe, but the plumage doesn't quite match. :idunno

If you could get some more pictures with a little better lighting, might make Identification easier.
