Can the metal hinges my husband installed on top of my roosts cause frostbite?

My husband hinged our roosts to the side of the coop so they could be lifted and cleaned under. However he used strap hinges and placed them on top of the roost. Can this amount of metal cause frostbite? Also, I'm concerned because some of the screw aren't set too flat, could this injure the hens claws? What can be used to cover them? Duct tape? I am new to this whole farm experience.

nope, won't cause frostbite. They won't be sitting directly on them most likely. Odds are even if they squat on one, they won't stay on it. Did he use a 2x4? wide side up so they can squat over their feet and keep them warm?

also, make sure there is adequate ventilation above their heads so any moisture in the coop can vent out and not settle back on their combs to cause frostbite

We've got the ventilation. I was just concerned about the hinges and screw heads. He used 2x2's for the roosts so they wouldn't be too heavy for me to lift.
