I have 17 baby chicks that range in age from 3-5 weeks. They have been inside a sectioned off area of the coop with chicken wire separating them from the bigger chickens. I feel so bad that they can't enjoy the sunshine! I've decided that when the older chicks free-range, I'll let the babies go in the run.

Since they have been growing alongside the bigger hens, would this allow me to introduce them to the older chickens sooner than 12 weeks?

I am not saying that this works all the time, or that its a good idea, but I put all 20 of my 5 and 7 week old babies in the big girl coop with the 8 big hens.. and have had no problems at all. they free range together all day too!
