Can you breed bugs for chickens?

I was wondering whether you could breed crickets or mealworms for chickens. Mealworms and crickets are expensive and for $5 you only get a handful. So I was thinking, maybe if you bought a cup and waited until they matured, would they breed?

lots of people raise meal worms and I think some do with crickets
