I think youll find by far there are many more people hear on BYC that build there own vs buying something premade. myself have built 2 coupes, a pasture pen and a chicken tractor. Im shure there will be more in the future.

and welcome to BYC

We are still in the design phase, (1 week old chicks)
I like the idea of building our own for a couple different reasons....

1. Its cheep!
2. You get to custom build, to your own likes and flock size.

Dig around on the site and you'll find some really cool coops and accessories, where else can you find a gravity feeder made from rain gutters?

hey thanx! im happy cuz we had chickens at our old house and when we moved here, I was like well...I miss my chickens! so thanx!

If you want chickens and they need a home before they can move in, home made coops are the way to go, especially for small flocks. Just give the chickens a place to roost (sleep), and lay eggs and your all set. I think runs are optional, and you can just let the chickens free run around the yard. When the coop is done, pull up a chair, grab some popcorn, and watch some chicken action (otherwise known as chicken T.V.)
