Also can I switch from chick starter to the purina flock raiser? And then after that do I need to switch to layer(after flock raiser)?

Yes, roosters do well on flock raiser. Yes, you can switch from chick to flock raiser. You don't have to switch to layer. Some find it easier to just give oyster shell on the side and keep on feeding flock raiser.

Flock Raiser is my regular feed. Once they are old enough not to need starter/grower any more (in the six to eight week range) they all go onto Flock Raiser. When laying starts I supplement with oyster shell. Each tractor also has a tube feeder of grain (whole corn, wheat, alfalfa pellets) and they can eat either one free choice. Once they are full grown the roosters will eat mostly grain. The hens will be about 50/50 depending on the quality of their forage at any given time.

I use Flock Raiser as their regular feed once they are done with the Chick Starter. I have a dish of oyster shell on the side for free choice and the pullets/hens eat it as they need to. My roo is fine and healthy with the Flock Raiser. It has more protein than layer does too. My flock have nice, shiny feathers, no pecking problems, are healthy, and very nice eggs. They also free range several hours a day.
