Can you get Splash dark Brahma from Blue dark brahmas?

Hi,

I have a bantam blue dark Brahma chick, 2 weeks old. I’d like to get some unrelated chicks to later breed with him (I think he’s a boy because he is feathering much slower than his sibling?)

My question is if I get some unrelated blue darks and breed blue dark to blue dark will I get just more of the same or will I get the blue black splash thing? I know that’s what you get if you breed two solid blue birds but as these guys have lacing/penciling I wasn’t sure if it was the same effect?

I would try to see what you get.

Often with blue black splash breeds you need to breed back to black every couple of generations to keep the blue lookng good
