I want to put pea gravel in half of my chicken and duck run, to help reduce mud however i have no idea how to figure out how much I'll need! I'm not good with that kind of stuff lol. If anyone can tell me how to figure it out or knows how much I'll need I would greatly appriciate it!!! the area will be 10ft by 10ft and 4 inches deep.

10 ft x 10 ft x 4 inches = 10 ft x 10 ft x 4/12 ft = 33.3 ft^2. Divide by 27 to get 1.23 cubic yards.

so...1.23 cubic yards of gravel.

You can look up book values for ton-to-cu-yd conversion for whatever type of gravel you want; but honestly if you just call the vendor up and say "I want 1.5 cu yd of <suchandsuch> gravel, can you tell me how many tons that is?" they will be able to tell you

Good luck, have fun,

The industry usually goes by 1.3 ton per cubic yard of pea gravel.

It can go as high as 1.7 ton/ cubic yard.

okay so 2 tons should definately do it? At $14 per ton it would only cost me $28. this seems pretty cheap to me. I thought it would cost me at least $100
