Can you help my chicken??

What's the best way to get rid of mites?
If she's already unwell I would slather the ointment on her wound thickly. This will keep the opportunistic bugs off the wound area.

I treated my birds for mites but they didn't have lice so if you're sure its mites:
I used Sevin 5%, tied up inside of stocking and knotted off, to dust their kennel, roost, coop and nesting material.
I used Vaseline to cover their legs (they also had scaly mites) and smother those out.
I used Ivermectin Pour On for goats to get a handle on the body mites.
(I also keep a small dark tube (1/2" black pipe) stuffed with a damp piece of denim zip tied to the underside of their roost and check it in the evenings for any signs of hiding mites. There were some bugs hiding in there but I haven't found any in well over a week.

To get the exact dosage for the Ivermectin Pour On for Goats you'll want to do a search of the BYC forums. I only remember what I gave my hens and they are underweight for their type. I also found it easier to have the exact dosage for each hen prepared ahead of time. I don't trust myself to be able to apply just x # of drops from a full syringe.

Ooops *Ivermectin Pour on for Cattle. The wormer was for goats ...
