Can you raise a pig with chickens?

Can I raise a pig from a piglet to be around my birds? I am just becoming interested in pigs.

I wouldn't. My dad raised hogs when he was a kid and tells stories about sows dropping feed inside their pens and waiting for the chickens to go for it, then the sows would catch and eat the chickens...

Pigs will eat chickens if given the chance. Don't be discouraged because you can have them both like many small farms do but in separate pens.

I have no experience with pigs myself, but based on what I've heard from others, I would not recommend it. I have heard of a sow and a bantam rooster becoming friends, but this is a rare case.

I agree, and would think that convincing any pig that the chickens are not tasty treats would be hard.
And pigs are social animals who shouldn't be solitary, and are smart and hard to fence.

Pigs are omnivorous and would happily eat any chicken they could catch.

Check out the Youtube channel Weed 'em & Reap. They have Kune Kune that roam the same area as their chickens. They haven't shared anything about the pig going after the chickens. While there's a chance they simply didn't do it to save face, they have shared their failures in the past. They seem very open about the ups and downs of homesteading.

I think it would all depend on the pig and maybe it's a breed/size thing. Of course you'd need to provide a place only for the chickens and their food.
