Run is 10’x12’x4’. I added shavings, nuggets, chips, and hay so the floor now has about 3-4” of material above the dirt. I gave them a hay bale because I had nowhere else to store it for the nests and they have it pretty well spread now. We are sub tropical so never too cold, typically hot, sometimes very rainy. We prepared more for hurricanes and predators with our build than anything else. The coop is concreted in and sheltered under trees to reduce wind damage. Eventually we plan for it to be 8’ tall with a roof over 2/3 of the run.Good point - I had asked about the run size and then sort of forgot about that line of thought.Volume of litter vs volume of poop plays a role in determining how often you need to clean, as does climate, bedding materials, management technique, etc.
