My lovely breeder friend surprised me with a GORGEOUS brown leghorn pullet today (she's about 9 or 10 months old, not sure) - I'd been wanting one for a long time now so am super happy. She seems very laid-back and sweet, at least that's my first impression.
Would love to see photos of your girls and hear stories about them...
Good stuff, bad stuff, anything
She's quite small though, she's supposed to be a standard (and not a bantam) but how do you tell?
Of course I will take some photos tomorrow.
She has smallish wattles and comb (which got damaged by an over-zealous roo, she had freshly dried blood and scabs on her broken comb
)
Her middle toes have loooong toenails, almost 2" long - I have a feeling she was housed on wire flooring??
I will have to trim that!!
Otherwise she is in great condition, beautiful glossy plumage, no lice thank goodness, clean strong legs and beak, clear eyes - she was quarantined and treated with Ivermectin at my friend's house so that's a huge relief.
