can you tell when they will come into lay

I have 2 hens that are old enough to start laying soon. Are there any signs to when they will start to lay? I don't want to miss my first egg!

Their combs will turn red as opposed to being pink...

9 week old EE (Easter Egger) pullet...

25 week old EE pullets (notice the red combs)...

cool. One of my older ones is a little bigger and is definetly redder on her comb. I'm so excited for eggs. I'm going on vacation for 5 days on may 31 and my mother in law will be caring for the girls. I am SO hoping to get my first egg before I go.
