Can you trust a turkey's judgement?

Yes, he was tasty, I ate his thigh since it was part of what flawed me in the head.

Don't think so. It could be something simple as clothing, colors, hairstyle..

My peafowl completely, utterly flip out at seeing anybody wearing skirts.. They are SO SURE these are all Peafowl Serial Murderers.

None of the birds liked my old red shirt with various rattle snake species all over it. Some do not like the one bright yellow shirt.. Most of the year I wear shorts daily. A lot of the birds react badly when I'm wearing pants. Don't think I suddenly turn into some kind of horrible creature as soon as pants go on...

The dog barking could have set him off- even though he's a barker anyways, but it could be the intensity or the pitch of bark that is different and he decides that is an alarm call, making him scared of these people.

Animals can also react badly to people who are utterly clueless about animals and so don't know how to behave- loud talking or making fast gestures etc. Also some people are shy or nervous upon visiting a strangers place, dogs can smell this fear and it sets some dogs off but 'in the wrong'. Also people who have been bitten by dogs tend to not trust any dogs, especially if the dogs are in the same yard- it does not matter if the dog 'would never hurt a fly'.... often times it's those exact ones that end up biting someone.. the dog not the person.. grin..

Simple. When an animal perceives any person, animal, or it's own kind as threatening their status in the established pecking order at any given moment in time, they in turn will react by any means at their disposal (making threatening noises or gestures, growling, barking, hissing, attacking, flailing, pecking, biting , etc) making sure that they retain or raise their own status of dominanace over the individual involved. Some animals have very sensitive olfactory capabilities, and can indeed smell minute differences in odors of chemicals and/or perfumes, hormones or pheramones and may react favorably or unfavorably when they come upon them based on their experiances to them.
