Can You Use Aspen for Chickens/Chicks?

I have a big bag of aspen bedding for my rats that I don't use a lot. And we may get 5-10 Easter Egger Chicks. I don't want to hurt the little chicks' respiratory systems.

I've read that aspen is better than pine even, less aromatic.

I use aspen for my chicks, but will be going to regular pine shavings when they go out to the coop.
