He's adorable 😍 I wish I could buy him!

Birds can become very tame when they're hand raised and socialised. Just like parrots, if you keep up socialising and interacting with them, they stay tame. If that isn't kept up, they will become fearful. Hand raised canaries, if looked after well, can become very good companions.

Perfect and how do I wean them I've given them soacked seed but the oldest one has only touched them they still die for formula even though the oldest wants seeds and less formula now hes still struggling and has the seed in its mouth for ages and doesnt even eat it

You'll just have to keep trying. It takes a bit of co-ordination and strength to crack the seeds and be able to eat enough to sustain themselves. I'm not sure when canaries wean but I'd imagine it would be around 6-8 weeks old and it can take a little longer for formula fed babies.

I hand reared some cockatiels this year and had 4 from one nest. 3 of them weaned easily and quickly but the 4th - I didn't think he was ever going to wean! Babies younger than him weaned faster than he did!

Baby birds can't be starved into eating and are more likely to try new things on a full crop. So keep up with the formula feeding for as long as needed.

Also, once he's weaned don't rush him off to his new home. Give him at least 1 week, if not 2, to settle into eating his seed diet. If moved to a new environment they can regress and starve if they've only just weaned.

Whatever you do, don't force wean them. Be patient with them. I have hand raised some crested pigeons (wild birds for release) and the weaning process took a while. They eventually got it, but it took a lot of patience. Boiled eggs and vegetables, like broccoli, are great for weaning because you can make them nice and soft and they're also healthy for them.

Oh no the lady has already ordered a delover to come get them next week?

Canaries dont stay tame as a rule. I have hand-reared a dozen or so and not one was any less fearful of me as an adult.

I always have mine off formula by day 28. I introduce soaked pellets, crumbled broccoli tops and hard boiled egg crumbled up on a plate around day 18 and they start feeding.

Can I give them canary egg food for weaning and they are shipping off to their new home 6 of may buy still want formula and are barely touching the seed could I substitute egg food for seed or no

Canaries can't crack seed until a few months old and need softened pellets, veggies and egg all the time until then.
