I started two of my children on piano lessons this summer with a super sweet young lady who is a college Freshman nearby. But I need to cancel them permanently as she really cannot teach very well.....yet. (I think she will be able to in a few years though.)

I just don't know how to do this without hurting her feelings or giving her hope that we will go back to her any time soon, and we KNOW her whole family who also live here & are also very kind people. And we will see them again quite frequently.

How could I cancel this without hurting her feelings. Or better....How should I put it? I just don't know yet. I would like to finish this month out as a courtesy to her though......

One more thing...I am planning on taking my children on vacations throughout the school year (by working ahead on their homeschooling)...so maybe I could throw that in somehow?

Oh dear, how do I get myself into such pickles..

Thank you all for any suggestions!

It is really none of her business why you cancel, so just tell her that due to personal reasons (uh...the fact that you don't like her teaching skills, but she doesn't need to know that) you need to stop the piano lessons for the time being. Personal reasons are vague enough and usually don't get questioned since it is personal and not of their concern.
