I have about 18 eggs in the incubator. They are araucanas. So they are bluish, greenish eggs. yet I can't see a darn thing. I've candled eggs before (white eggs) and I could see veins and such, but I don't see anything. What do you see in a candled darker egg?

Hmm, well, since I've never used one, I can't say how bright it is. On day 9, you should be able to see some veins radiating down from the aircell area and a small dark mass, just like on any other egg, but it depends on how opaque your eggs are. Mine are very nice and evenly colored and "clear" so it's easy to see with my projector.

I have similer problems because I have 2 green eggs!
They are very hard to candle and to see even into them.
I know with one of mine I do see veins but just barley. UHH!
I have no idea if there is "anyone" in there. LOL!
I am on day 11 and now I just am smelling since I can not tell on those. But they seem to be just fine so I guess they will probably stay there until hatch day if they dont smell before then.
Good Luck!

I am a little nervous because there appears to be "stuff" on some of the eggs, like perhaps there was a bad egg? But I don't smell any rotten smells coming out the bator and I can't seem to see which egg it would be???? The candler (and a flash light I tried) are REALLY bright. They worked great last year when candeling my duck eggs, goose eggs and silkie chicken eggs I hatched out. I just have never tried colored eggs of any sort and I honestly can't get a good look in there. I see the out line of the yolk. I only picked out about 5 of the 18 to take a peak because I just couldn't tell anything. They all look the same, so if there is a bad egg or two are they going to explode in there and ruin the others? grrrr this is frustrating. how do people who hatch out those really dark eggs do it? I can't wait for my goose eggs this year (thanks peachick!) it will be much easier. I also found 1 other supplier so I think between the two I shoudl have some beautiful baby geese running around!!

Green eggs are a problem because the shell colr goes all the way through. You may be able to see the moving chick by now. If there is a dark spot dancing all over the place, that should be the chick.

I use my mini maglite (CNH) from my fire gear (hubby and I are firemen) it is very bright and I can see into my eggs really good...

ON day 13 here, 26 due to hatch in 8 days and I can see baby chick in each one of them...( one I think will be very hipper lol) This is my first hatch but w/ all the great info I've gotten from here.. It's been a breeze....

Thank you thank you !!

Well I looked at my calender and I was off by a day. turns out I put them in a week from this morning. I for some reason though I put them in Wednesday morning. So any way. I don't see anything. I only can see an out line. To me it doesn't look like there is ANYTHING in them. But who knows. I will give it a few more days. Sunday wil be 10 days I guess. I will try then and see what I can see. I put the 4 remaining black australorps (all but 4 were broke when shipped) so I will peek and see if I can see anything in them.

Thanks
