We set 23 BLRW eggs on Saturday night 21st. The eggs were picked up locally, not shipped.
We candled today - Day 6 -and found only 8 had the black eye and veins.
Several had dark areas like this one pictures, but no definite 'eye'.
Do you think this egg is fertile/developing?
We don't plan to take any out, just in case.

Several had dark a reas'b

I had 5 that looked like that and I cracked them yesterday (day 7) and there were tiny tiny little embryo type things that appeared to have died the first day or so.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but still going to leave them in the incubator...

I'd leave it for now, but I bet it doesn't do much.

Maybe candle again around day 14, and if you don't see something really obvious, toss it.

I think that egg is likely a dud, but I agree to leave in for now. Candling at day 10 you should DEFINITELY see a dark spot. If these eggs are all porous, you might want to increase your humidity by about 5, because they'll be drying down more quickly if they're porous like this.

I agree that you should leave it and see what happens.

I actually just had an entire batch develop like that, and right now one is zooming around in the incubator, while three others are resting before zipping. Oy what a surprise!

Thanks, I'd like more than eight, so I hope a few of these have the same outcome as yours!
