Candling/Development ?'s

So I got eggs shipped from GA to TX, they were 4 days in the mail in this heat. So after candling them tonight and comparing them with development photos, they *appear* to be further along than they are supposed to (10 days in the 'bator).

? could they have started to develop in the heat on their way here?

if so,

? When should I start lock down?

I would think they did indeed start developing during transit. 4 days in the mail, I would count 3 days of incubation as part of the total incubation days and lockdown accordingly.

You're most welcome. I am expecting 24+ Silkie eggs from Maine (I'm in NC). I imagine it will take about 3 days or more to get here and I plan on candling as soon as arrival and placing immediately into the incubator which has been up and running since yesterday and is stable at 99.5 degrees. After candling I should be able to guesstimate development and will incubate based on that. Good luck with your hatch!

Even with shipped eggs (warm eggs) I set them for hatching on day 18. I have had chicks hatch a little while after I have set them.
