First time hatching chicks here...and via a broody hen.

It's day 23 (possibly 24) for the eggs. One chick hatched on day 22 and is hanging out under her mother.

I'm wondering if the other eggs are viable. Is it OK to candle so late? I'm worried about harming their position or the air sacs, etc.

Thanks for any advice!

Sure, you can candle them and have a look. The chicks will have turned into their hatching position by the 14-15th day and the air cells will be firmly in place now too. Hope you get another late chick or two from that hatch. After hatching a chick on day 25 under a broody I'd say anything is possible!

Oh good -- what a relief! I will candle tonight. Thank you so much for the help!
