I have a broody hen sitting on 10 guinea eggs, about 11 days in. Because of the tough shells is it harder to candle guinea eggs? I haven't tried yet but since some were mailed and I know the hatch rate isn't often as good I was going to candle and get rid of the duds so the hatched chicks have more space under momma.

I've successfully candled them, but pretty late in the game when it was obvious if there was something in there. Not sure about 11 days. But you can definitely see thru if you get a nice strong flashlight, a tube and a good dark room.

Good luck!

You need a pretty bright light to see veins in my experience though. Also, I don't think you'll have much luck candling a hen's nest. You'd have to wait till dark, and you might scare her off. I'd just leave them be.
