The eggs are day 16/17. Dark green shell. Under a broody.

Converted them to b/w to show the contrast better since really it's all I can see anyway. Are these eggs ok or bad? All I can see is the air cell and the rest of the egg is dark. (I understand my photos leave much to be desired and that a definitive answer may not be possible.)

Thanks for looking.

Thank you for your opinion Roxanne. Appreciate it. I've been comparing incubation pics too and just wasn't sure. Thanks again! Good luck with yours!

I think they are good too. I had a hen abandon her eggs and was not sure about them but put them in the incubator anyway. They started hatching three days later and I had not even gone into lock down because I was not sure of the timing. Down to four eggs out of that clutch (and I have candled them in the floor of the incubator through the window.....not supposed to do really) and there is movement in all.

But.....at the end of incubation you can see the air cell.....the part where the chick is will be dark.....however, with a strong enough flashlight you can still see movement or at least chick parts....I can often see a foot.

Thanks for having a look. I'm not going to mess with them anymore and just hope for the best. Now that I have the incubation bug I'm going to look for a better flashlight to candle with.

Hope the rest of your eggs hatch!!
