Well ill be candling tonight which makes it 16 days in. Last candle was on the 12th day, and i saw very little movement :/ so i have no hope of seeing much tonight i think.

Ive read the whole "chicks are here - progression through incubation" thread and the still pics helped alot.

But has anyone any other signs that eggs are alive at this stage as its so dark?

Movement, will there be any? Air sac size confuses me alot mine didnt look very big at day 12.

Ill post later tonight when i candle and let yous know how bad i was at doing it lol was woken at 4am this morning to my humidity alarm going off as it dropped 10% during night for no apparent reason.

its only 10am here so ill be biting my nails by then im sure.!

I don't always see movement when I candle eggs, so I judge by development. As long as the chick embryo keeps developing I know it's alive and well. Post some pics of your candling session tonight so we can have a look?

Ok so I caved and made my bedroom dark to candle them early..

To my shock I saw movement in all of them. Slight but deffo moving.

Air cells dont look any bigger than day 12 tho is that bad?

And one I thought was a quitter the air cell is half way ip the egg at one side but it moved too. But it did not look as big a development as the rest alot smaller.

Although I set eggs 2days apart. The youngest ones are still bigger than this embryo. Very strange.

Saw faint viening in all eggs also.

I really am shocked I saw movement in all 7 but worried the air sacs dont look bigger.

Im so sorry im unable to post pics at this time :(

Your temperature is perfect, but if you think your air cells are too small, lower the humidity to 40-45%. That's the level I always incubate at and it's worked very well for me. The one with the misplaced air cell, place it upright in the incubator, with the fat end of the egg up, at a 45* angle and tilt it across 90* when you turn the other eggs. I don't know if there is enough time to correct this, but it's worth a try.

Thanks so much for your reply. Big help! They are in an auto turner incubator they move every 2 hours.

Lockdown tomorrow and am thinking to myself how on earth im going to see whats going on to time pips etc because my incubator is completely NOT seethrough.

Grr confused!

Are you going to hatch them upright in the turner or put them on their sides?

Em.. I was thinking sides on a rack supplied with the bator.

Does it matter how they are placed on side or can you just set them. Worried about putting them wrong way for pip

Ideally when you lockdown you should remove them from the turner, to minimise risk of injury to the chicks. Most people put the eggs on their sides at this point. I've hatched many eggs and have never had a chick being unable to pip/zip because it was lying on the wrong spot in the egg, so I wouldn't worry about that.
