I am very close to the end of a batch of incubating some eggs but when I candling them I could not see in side. I am thinking the shell is thick and I feel like that is a good think we have had an egg picker so we started putting oysters in with the food feeder. I not seen any more eggs picked so I am thinking that was a good thing. to make an egg the chicken uses a lot of calcium . I think that is why the egg picker was doing that she was low in calcium. anyhow back to candling and not being able to see in side the egg. I think the calcium build up is stopping me from see them forum.it is now day 20 and I will see in hope in 1 day tell what you think.

I'm not sure that would make it hard to see unless you previously set eggs that you could easily see inside of from the same hens.

by day 20 there isn't going to be much to see anyway. only the air cell is really visible at that point, you might see some movement in the very top of the egg where the inner membrane meets the air cell. The chick is filling the egg by day 20 so the rest should just be black, full of chick.

I have a few eggs on day 18 today and that's all I can see.
