Candling

This is my first time hatching chickens, i have candled my eggs an they are spotty? is this good or bad???

what day are you on

if the egg is clear and its more than 5 days then its bad

spotting is an indicator of bacteria infection

but not always if its spotted but the embryo is developing its usually ok

It is only day 2 so quite early.

Well, you should keep it in a little longer and candle it again at ten days and see if there is a chick in there. If not, toss it. Rotten eggs do smell!
