Candying day 16 eggs

Is it normal for me to candle an egg on day 16 and I can only see black besides the air bubble? I candles the eggs on day 7 and I could see everything.

Yes it is normal to only see black at day 17. That’s the chick! If you are worried that the chick is doing ok you can water candle them. Use a deep bowl with water heated to 100 degrees and place an egg in the water (gently). Once the egg settles you are lookin for the egg to rock or wiggle. That’s the chick moving around. If you don’t see movement you can repeat water candling again later. Just not when the egg has pipped.
