Hi again,

Yet another new chicken ailment I am coming across. I have a hen who is showing signs of canker. Horrible smell, yellowish gunk in left corner of mouth, hungry but struggling to eat, still drinks but starting to have an issue. It's been about 4 days now. I can't get into a vet until Monday and I'm worried she won't make it until then.
I just picked up some Seachem Metroplex powder. It is 70% metronidazole and I can't find any information on dosage. I'm plan on getting some ACS as well but I want to start treating her ASAP and the Metroplex is what I currently have on hand. I'm also struggling to find the ACS near me so I might have to order that as well. So any advice on dosage? I've only come across dosage for the pills or for the 20% powder. Any help would be appreciated.
I've also started her on some doxycycline, I've read that is also used but I worry.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I can answer where to buy acidified copper sulfate, and that is McMurray Hatchery or pigeon suppliers, such as Jedds.com. Dosage is 1/4 tsp per gallon of water for 5 days. Use a plastic or glass waterer. For prevention, dosage is the same for 3 days each month. Disinfect all waterers and feeders.

Metronidazole dosage is 250 mg (or 50 mg per pound of weight) given orally each day. The problem with the Metroplex powder is that is 70%, but that doesn’t tell me how many milligrams it contains. @casportpony sometimes can get dosages if she is around.

OK thank you, I can see if the packaging tells me anything more. I did come across those sites, I wasn't sure if that was my only option or not. I was hoping to get it sooner without having to pay $50 dollars in shipping lol. But it is what it is. I appreciate the help and maybe she will be able to help with dosage, and will see this. I don't know enough about using this site so I don't know if I can directly message or not. Either way, I appreciate the help.

See if it can weigh one gram. One gram of powder should be about 1/3 teaspoon.
It's not nearly touchy enough unfortunately. I've been meaning to go buy a better one for awhile now, I just haven't gotten around to it. I'm going to pick one up in an hour or two.
