Several of my Duccle boys have what I thought was fowl pox. (My hens had it about two months ago.

But this looks like Canker, while some have pox sores, others only have the yellow or black buildup in the beak.

My thought is to treat the whole flock. I have Metronidazole 250 mg, Acidified Copper Sulfate otw in two days. I have colloidal silver in their water now, and preparing a garlic water for them.

  1. Do you agree it’s Canker? If not, what?
  2. Recommendations for treatment of a flock with the above meds ++ further recommendations?
  3. Any links to useful resources?

It appears as if the cockerels/roosters have been fighting. Stress from that along with what looks like fowl pox may have caused an outbreak of Canker. I think they are dealing with both fowl pox and canker, and would treat for the canker.

Thanks much. I found the antibiotics cause permanent egg withdrawal. I’m going to give acv and garlic, as according to several sources.

If there is a foul odor coming from inside the mouth, it's canker. Wet fowl pox does not put out a foul odor.
If it's canker, treat with the Metronidazole first, for 5-7 days. If there is no improvement, use the Acidified Copper Sulfate.

If you use Acidified Copper Sulfate, be careful how you use it.
Follow these instructions:
Use a one gallon plastic container, do not use a metal container.
Put 1/4 level teaspoon of acidified copper sulfate (ACS) in the one gallon container. Then add one gallon of water into the container. Then add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar into the container. Cap it and shake the container well. (It will be a light blue color liquid.) (Do NOT add more ACS into the container, more is NOT better, it can burn the innards.)
Then put the mixture in a plastic waterer for your bird to drink. Give it to your bird to drink for no more than 10 days.

Do not use it to treat wet fowl pox.

Thanks. No smell, so probably wet pox. Several of them have it.

I may loose one of my boys. He drank water, but isn’t eating. He’s in the worst condition

That's false.
Can you provide links to your sources?
Garlic does act somewhat as a natural antibiotics but the doses high enough to do anything will kill your birds as it's toxic to animals, especially birds.
However copper sulfate isn't an antibiotic, it an antifungal.
