My four y/o rooster--who I love with all my heart--has solid round lumps of skin in his throat, along with yellow-is cheesy stuff that I can scrape off of them (though it returns in a matter of hours). I think he's had this since February. I need help. I've given him rounds of metridonazole and I've been putting copper sulfate in the water sometimes.

I am in contact with a vet. What else could I get to help him?

I can't stress enough that I love this bird so much. I love him more than any dog or cat I've ever had.

Canker is a chronic disease. Many cull chickens with this to keep it spreading from the sick bird to others. Pigeons carry this disease, as well as some wild birds. Metronidazole, ronitazole, and thyme extract are some of the treaments. Acidified copper sulfate 1/4 tsp per gallon of water is also used to help prevent canker. It sounds like this chicken may be suffering a great deal, so I would see the vet and decide if it would be best to put him down. Sorry that you are dealing with such a bad infection.

What is the Ronidazole dosage?

I took him to a vet today (hoping that they'd have something) and they confirmed canker and gave him panacur? They advised using it alongside the metronidazole...do you think that's a good decision to use those together?
